Introduction:

Operating Principle: Axial fans generate airflow along the axial direction. Mixed Flow Fans, on the other hand, combine the characteristics of axial and centrifugal fans to deliver air simultaneously in both axial and radial directions, producing a transverse (mixed) airflow.

Airflow Characteristics: The airflow of axial fans is primarily along the main axis, resulting in high air volume, low pressure, and low noise. Mixed Flow Fans are influenced by both axial and radial components, allowing them to balance air volume and pressure with higher overall efficiency.

Structural Features: Axial fans typically have large impeller diameters and relatively long casings. Mixed Flow Fans feature more complex impeller structures consisting of axial and radial sections, have shorter casings, and maintain a smaller clearance between the impeller and the housing compared to axial fans.

Applications: Axial fans are well‑suited for general air‑moving tasks such as ventilation, cooling, air exchange, and smoke exhaust. Mixed Flow Fans are more appropriate for applications that demand higher air volume or a balanced performance in both volume and pressure, such as in HVAC systems.
